<li><strong>Pecos</strong><strong> River</strong><strong>: </strong>May 3, Daniel and Matthew Tenorio of Moriarty caught a 31.5-inch, 13-pound 8-ounce rainbow trout. He was fishing with worms at the Mora Campground.<strong></strong></li>
<li><strong><img alt="Big Pecos rainbow" src="http://www.wildlife.state.nm.us/recreation/fishing/documents/images/05Pecosrainbow.jpg" width="299" height="742" align="right" />Bluewater</strong><strong> Lake:</strong> May 4, Matthew Valdez of Santa Fe caught a 45-inch, 24-pound tiger musky. He was using a Rapala.</li>
<li><strong>Eagle</strong><strong> Nest Lake</strong><strong>: </strong>May 4, Steve Langham and Josh Harrison caught a 33-inch, 8.5-pound northern pike. They were using a crank bait.</li>
<li><strong>Heron</strong><strong> Lake: </strong>May 4, Jason Sweeney of Santa Fe boated a 36-inch, 15-pound, 10-ounce lake trout. He was jigging in 50 feet of water.<strong> </strong>May 5, Tom White of Albuquerque caught an 8.5-pound lake trout. He was using a white tube jig.</li>
<li><strong>Navajo</strong><strong> Lake</strong><strong>: </strong>May 5, Barry Stanley of Flora Vista caught and released a 6.41-pound largemouth bass. He was using a Yamamoto creature bait. May 5, Ron Moore of Durango caught and released a 4.76-pound smallmouth bass. May 5, Steve Ragsdale of Aztec caught and released a 4.37-pound smallmouth bass.</li>
<li><strong>Ute</strong><strong> Lake:</strong> May 4, Steve Scraper of Logan caught and released a 4.68-pound smallmouth bass. May 4, Todd May of Logan caught and released a 4.19-pound smallmouth bass. He was using a jerk bait. May 5, Justin Morris caught and released a 4.69-pound smallmouth bass. He was using a senko. May 5, Chris Bosley of Amarillo caught and released a 4.67-pound smallmouth bass. He was using a senko.</li>
<li><strong>Rio Grande</strong><strong>: </strong>May 5, Jack Black of Taos caught and released a 30-inch northern pike. He was using a white and red whistler.</li>

<p><strong>Charette</strong><strong> Lakes</strong><strong>:</strong> Fishing was fair to good using Power Bait, worms and salmon eggs for trout. We had no reports on perch.<br />
<strong>Cimarron</strong><strong> River</strong><strong>: </strong>Water flow below Eagle Nest on Monday was 28 cfs. Trout fishing was good using Panther Martins, elk hair caddis, Cimarron specials, Cimarron worms, salmon eggs and worms. Fishing at the Gravel Pit Lakes was fair using assorted spinners, salmon eggs and Power Bait.<br />
<strong>Clayton</strong><strong> Lake</strong><strong>:</strong> Fishing was good using Power Bait for trout. We had no reports on other species.<br />
<strong>C</strong><strong>onchas</strong><strong> Lake</strong><strong>:</strong> Fishing for smallmouth bass was fair to good using tubes, jigs, jerk baits and senkos. Fishing for catfish was slow to fair using liver and nightcrawlers. A few white bass were taken by anglers using sassy shad and swim baits. We had no reports on other species.<br />
<strong>Coyote Creek: </strong>Trout fishing was very good using Power Bait, worms, salmon eggs and homemade dough bait. The stream flow is quite low.<span id="more-2890"></span><strong></strong><br />
<strong>Eagle</strong><strong> Nest Lake</strong><strong>:</strong> The boat ramps are open but the docks are still not in place. Fishing for trout was good from the bank and from anchored boats for anglers using Power Bait and salmon eggs. Anglers trolling did best using Arnies, Platte River specials and Panther Martins. Fishing was fair using crank baits, jerk baits and swim baits for northern pike. Fishing for perch was fair using worms. We had no reports on kokanee.<br />
<strong>Lake</strong><strong> Alice</strong><strong>: </strong>Fishing was good using Power Bait, homemade dough bait and salmon eggs for stocked rainbow trout.<br />
<strong>Lake</strong><strong> Maloya</strong><strong>:</strong> Hot spot for trout: Fishing continued to be very good for trout up to 20 inches. Anglers did well using Power Bait, salmon eggs, worms, Pistol Petes, Panther Martins and an assortment of flies.<br />
<strong>Los Pinos: </strong>We had no reports from anglers this week.<br />
<strong>Manzano</strong><strong> Lake</strong><strong>:</strong> Fishing was slow for all species.<br />
<strong>Maxwell</strong><strong> Lake</strong><strong> 13</strong><strong>:</strong> The water level is down and fishing was slow for all species.<br />
<strong>Monastery</strong><strong> Lake</strong><strong>: </strong>Fishing was slow to fair using Power Bait, homemade dough bait, salmon egg-corn combinations and Pistol Petes for trout.<br />
<strong>Morphy</strong><strong> Lake</strong><strong>:</strong> Trout fishing was very good using nightcrawlers, Power Bait, homemade dough bait, cheese, corn, salmon eggs and spinners.<br />
<strong>Pecos River</strong><strong>:</strong> Water flow near the town of Pecos on Monday was 79 cfs.Trout fishing was fair using elk hair caddis, worms, salmon eggs, copper John Barrs and spinners.<br />
<strong>Red River</strong><strong>:</strong> Water flow near the hatchery Monday was 62 cfs. Trout fishing was fair to good using poundmeisters, elk hair caddis, small streamers, nightcrawlers, Panther Martins and worms.<br />
<strong>Rio Grande</strong><strong>:</strong> Hot spot for trout: Fishing was very good using caddis, mayflies, streamers, spinners and worms for trout. Fishing was very good using crawfish and tan pattern streamers for smallmouth bass. Fishing was fair to good using streamers and big leech patterns for northern pike. Water flow near the Taos Junction Bridge on Monday was 262 cfs.<br />
<strong> Rio Hondo:</strong> Stream flow near Valdez on Monday was 25 cfs. Trout fishing on the lower river was fair to good using elk hair caddis.<br />
<strong>Rio</strong><strong> Mora: </strong>Stream flow near Terrero on Monday was 20 cfs. Trout fishing was good using worms and salmon eggs.<br />
<strong>Rio Pueblo: </strong>Water flow near Penasco on Monday was 29 cfs. We had no reports from anglers this week.<br />
<strong>Santa Barbara</strong><strong>: </strong>We had no reports from anglers this week.<br />
<strong>Springer</strong><strong> Lake</strong><strong>:</strong> Fishing was slow for all species.<br />
<strong>Storrie</strong><strong> Lake</strong><strong>:</strong> Fishing was fair using corn and salmon eggs. We had no reports on other species with the exception of one catfish caught by an angler using worms.<br />
<strong>Stubblefield</strong><strong> Lake</strong><strong>: </strong>Water levels are extremely low and not fishable at this time.<br />
<strong>Ute</strong><strong> Lake</strong><strong>:</strong> Fishing was good using senkos, jerk baits, tubes and jigs for smallmouth bass and largemouth bass. Fishing was very good trolling Flicker Shad and Bombers for white bass. A few were also taken on grubs and minnows. Fishing was slow to fair using minnows and crank baits for walleye. We had no reports on other species. The surface water temp was in the high 50s to low 60s.</p>

Fishing pressure was very light.<br />
<strong>Animas</strong><strong> River</strong><strong>: </strong>Water flow near Aztec on Monday was 1,230 cfs. Fishing was slow.<strong></strong><br />
<strong>Albuquerque</strong><strong> Area Drains: </strong>We had no reports from anglers this week.<br />
<strong>Bluewater</strong><strong> Lake</strong><strong>:</strong> Fishing was very good using crank baits, swim baits, jerk baits, clousers and spoons for tiger musky. Fishing for all other species was slow. The surface water temp was in the mid 50s.<br />
<strong>Canjilon</strong><strong> Lakes</strong><strong>: </strong>We had no reports from anglers. <strong></strong><br />
<strong>Chama</strong><strong> River</strong><strong>:</strong> Monday morning water flows below El Vado and Abiquiu were 861 cfs and 962 cfs respectively. Trout fishing below El Vado was fair using Power Bait and nightcrawlers for stocked rainbows and a few small browns. We had no reports from below Abiquiu.<br />
<strong>Cochiti</strong><strong> Lake</strong><strong>:</strong> Fishing was fair using stink bait and nightcrawlers for catfish. Fishing was slow to fair using tubes, senkos, jerk baits and spinner baits for smallmouth bass and largemouth bass. We had no reports on other species. The surface water temp was in the mid to high 50s.<br />
<strong>El Vado Lake:</strong> We had no reports from anglers this week.<br />
<strong>Fenton</strong><strong> Lake</strong><strong>:</strong> Trout fishing was good using garlic scented Power Bait, salmon eggs, worms, olive Pistol Petes and Kastmasters. <strong></strong><br />
<strong>Heron</strong><strong> Lake</strong><strong>:</strong> Fishing was slow to fair using tubes and jigs for lake trout. We had no reports on other species.<br />
<strong>Jackson</strong><strong> Lake</strong><strong>:</strong> Fishing was slow for all species.<br />
<strong>Jemez Waters:</strong> Stream flow on the Jemez on Monday was 29 cfs. Trout fishing here and on the San Antonio was very good using copper John Barrs, brassies, egg patterns, gold ribbed hares ears, spawn emergers, elk hair caddis, worms and salmon eggs. Chris Ortega and his dad, Peter Ortega of Albuquerque had an awesome trip to the Jemez. They fished the Battleship Rock area on Cinco de Mayo and caught and released over 35 fish each. They caught a mixture of browns and rainbows. Fishing on the Cebolla below Fenton Lake was fair using worms. We had no reports from the Guadalupe or Rio Las Vacas.<br />
<strong>Laguna del Campo: </strong>Trout fishing was very good using worms, Power Bait, spinners, small spoons and salmon eggs. <strong></strong><br />
<strong>Lake</strong><strong> Farmington</strong><strong>:</strong> We had no reports from anglers this week.<br />
<strong>Navajo</strong><strong> Lake</strong><strong>:</strong> Fishing was good using jigs, swim baits, crank baits, creature baits and jerk baits for smallmouth bass and largemouth bass. Fishing was good using creature baits and grubs for crappie. Fishing was slow for northern pike with just a few taken by anglers using crank baits. We had no reports on other species. The surface water temp was in the mid to high 50s.<br />
<strong>Ramah</strong><strong> Lake</strong><strong>:</strong> We had no reports from anglers this week.<br />
<strong>San Gregorio: </strong>Fishing was very slow.<br />
<strong>San Juan River</strong><strong>:</strong> Water flow below Navajo Dam on Monday was 389 cfs. Fishing in the Quality Water section was good using Griffith’s gnats, brown and black emergers, red larva, bead-head pheasant tails and small jerk baits with a single barbless hook. Fishing through the bait waters was fair to good using Panther Martins, nightcrawlers, Power Bait and salmon eggs.<br />
<strong>Santa Cruz</strong><strong> Lake</strong><strong>:</strong> Fishing was good using Power Bait, salmon eggs and worms for trout. We had no reports on other species.<br />
<strong>Seven Springs Brood Pond: </strong>This water is open to<strong> </strong>anglers 11 years old or younger. The pond was recently stocked and is a great place to take youngsters to fish.<br />
<strong>Tiger</strong><strong> Park</strong><strong> Pond: </strong>This is a great spot to take the kids if you are in the Aztec area. We had no reports from anglers this year. <strong></strong><br />
<strong>Tingley</strong><strong> Beach</strong><strong>:</strong> Trout fishing at the Children’s Pond and the Central Pond was slow with just a few trout caught by anglers using Power Bait, worms, cheese, Pistol Petes and small Kastmasters. Fishing at the Catch and Release Pond was slow.</p>

<h1>Southwest</h1>
<p>&nbsp;</p>
<p><strong>Bear</strong><strong> Canyon</strong><strong>:</strong> We had no reports from anglers this week.<br />
<strong>Bill</strong><strong> Evans Lake</strong><strong>:</strong> Fishing was slow to fair using tubes, smallie beavers and jigs for largemouth bass. Fishing was slow to fair using nightcrawlers and stink bait for catfish. Fishing was fair using Power Bait, Pistol Petes and worms for trout. We had no reports on other species.<br />
<strong>Caballo</strong><strong> Lake</strong><strong>:</strong> The water level was quite low and fishing was slow for all species. The deepest water report this week was 9 to 10 feet. The west-side main boat ramp is still open. The east-side ramp remains closed.<br />
<strong>Elephant Butte:</strong> The surface water temp ranged from the high 50s to the low 60s. Fishing for black bass was fair using senkos, sweet beavers, chatterbaits tubes and crank baits. Fishing was good using cut bait, nightcrawlers and liver for catfish. Fishing was fair using grubs, spinners, minnows, swim baits and crank baits for white bass and an occasional crappie. We had no reports on other species. The Monticello and Dam Site boat ramps remain closed due to low water conditions. The Rock Canyon ramp has reopened.<br />
<strong>Escondida</strong><strong> Lake</strong><strong>:</strong> Fishing was slow for all species.<br />
<strong>Gila River</strong><strong>:</strong> Water flow on the Gila as of this past Monday was 62cfs. We had no reports from anglers this week.<br />
<strong>Glenwood Pond:</strong> Trout fishing was good using Power Bait.<br />
<strong>Lake</strong><strong> Roberts</strong><strong>:</strong> Hot spot for trout: Another great week for trout fishing here as most anglers brought in limits of rainbow trout. They were using Power Bait, worms, salmon eggs and homemade dough bait. We had no reports on other species.<br />
<strong>Percha Dam: </strong>The water was low and fishing was slow for all species. <strong></strong><br />
<strong>Quemado</strong><strong> Lake</strong><strong>:</strong> Fishing was fair to good using Power Bait and worms for trout up to 18 inches. Fishing was slow to fair using swim baits and jerk baits for tiger musky. We had no reports on other species.<br />
<strong>Rio Grande</strong><strong>:</strong> Water flow below Elephant Butte on Monday was .70 cfs. We had no reports from anglers this week.<br />
<strong>Snow</strong><strong> Lake</strong><strong>:</strong> We had no reports from anglers this week.</p>

<strong>Blue</strong><strong> Hole Park</strong><strong> Pond: </strong>Trout fishing was fair using salmon eggs.<br />
<strong>Bonito</strong><strong> Lake</strong><strong>:</strong> Closed.<br />
<strong>Bosque Redondo:</strong> Fishing was slow but there were a few trout caught by anglers using worms and Power Bait.<br />
<strong>Bottomless</strong><strong> Lakes</strong><strong>:</strong> Fishing was slow.<br />
<strong>Brantley</strong><strong> Lake</strong><strong>:</strong> Anglers are to practice catch-and-release for all fish here as high levels of DDT were found in several fish.<br />
<strong>Carlsbad</strong><strong> Municipal Lake</strong><strong>:</strong> We had no reports from anglers this week.<br />
<strong>El Rito Creek: </strong>Trout fishing was fair using worms and salmon eggs.<br />
<strong>Greene</strong><strong> Acres Lake</strong><strong>: </strong>Fishing was slow for all species. <strong></strong><br />
<strong>Green</strong><strong> Meadow Lake</strong><strong>: </strong>Fishing was slow for all species. <strong></strong><br />
<strong>Grindstone Reservoir:</strong> Trout fishing was good using Power Bait, worms, salmon eggs, Pistol Petes and spinners. Fishing was slow to fair using worms for catfish.<br />
<strong>Jal</strong><strong> Lake</strong><strong>:</strong> We had no reports from anglers this week.<br />
<strong>Lake Van</strong><strong>:</strong> Fishing was slow for all species. Fishing pressure was light.<br />
<strong>Oasis</strong><strong> Park Lake</strong><strong>: </strong>Fishing was slow for all species.<br />
<strong>Pecos</strong><strong> River: </strong>Stream flow below Sumner Lake on Monday was 75 cfs. Fishing was slow for all species.<br />
<strong>Perch</strong><strong> Lake</strong><strong>:</strong> We had no reports from anglers this week.<br />
<strong>Ruidoso</strong><strong> River:</strong> Stream flow near Hollywood on Monday was 4.8 cfs. Trout fishing was slow.<br />
<strong>Santa Rosa</strong><strong> Lake</strong>: The lake has reopened to boating but the launch area is undeveloped and boating is restricted to no wake speed only. Fishing was described as sporadic this past week coinciding with weather changes and wind. A few walleye and crappie were caught by anglers using curly tail grubs, nightcrawlers and minnows. A few smallmouth bass were caught by anglers using tubes, jerk baits and nightcrawlers. We had no reports on other species.<br />
<strong>Sumner</strong><strong> Lake</strong><strong>:</strong> Fishing was fair using grubs, crank baits and minnows for walleye. Fishing was fair using crank baits, grubs and minnows for white bass. We had no reports on other species. The Violation Canyon boat ramp remains open at this time and will remain open as long as lake levels permit.</p>

<li><strong>Rio</strong><strong> Chama: </strong>April 20, 4-year-old Ayana Anaya caught four rainbow trout on her first fishing trip, one of them a 16-incher! She was fishing below Abiquiu Dam.</li>
<li><strong>Pecos</strong><strong> River</strong><strong>:</strong> April 21, Tim Urtiaga caught 9-inch, 22-inch and 24-inch rainbow trout. He was fishing in the Villanueva area and using a size 24 home-tied midge pattern.</li>

<p><strong>Charette</strong><strong> Lakes</strong><strong>:</strong> Fishing was good using Power Bait, worms and salmon eggs for trout. We had no reports on perch.<br />
<strong>Cimarron</strong><strong> River</strong><strong>: </strong>Water flow below Eagle Nest on Monday was 35 cfs. Trout fishing was good using Panther Martins, parachute adams, elk hair caddis, red San Juan worms, salmon eggs and worms. Fishing at the Gravel Pit Lakes was good using salmon eggs and Power Bait.<br />
<strong>Clayton</strong><strong> Lake</strong><strong>:</strong> Fishing was fair using Power Bait for trout. A few trout were also taken on homemade dough bait. We had no reports on other species.<br />
<strong>C</strong><strong>onchas</strong><strong> Lake</strong><strong>:</strong> Fishing for smallmouth bass was very good this past week. Unfortunately, most of the fish fell just short of keeper size. Andrew Orlicky of Albuquerque gave it a try. He caught 16 while using tube jigs fished slowly near ledges. The biggest was just less than 14 inches. We had no reports on other species. Fishing pressure was very light.<br />
<strong>Coyote Creek: </strong>Trout fishing was good using Power Bait and salmon eggs. The stream flow is quite low.<strong></strong><br />
<strong>Eagle</strong><strong> Nest Lake</strong><strong>:</strong>  The boat ramps are open but the docks are still not in place. Fishing for trout was considered fair to good. Bank anglers did best using worms while anglers trolling had their best luck using Platte River specials. Fishing for northern pike has picked up some with several in the 20- to 30-inch class caught by anglers using big spoons and clouser minnows. We had no reports on perch or kokanee. There is a northern pike tournament scheduled for May 3, 4 and 5. For more information call 575-377-6226.<br />
<strong>Lake</strong><strong> Alice</strong><strong>: </strong>Fishing pressure here was light but anglers who did fish did well using Power Bait and salmon eggs.<br />
<strong>Lake</strong><strong> Maloya</strong><strong>:</strong> Hot spot for trout: Fishing was very good using Power Bait, salmon eggs, worms, homemade dough bait, Pistol Petes, assorted flies and Panther Martins for trout up to 16 inches.<br />
<strong>Los Pinos: </strong>We had no reports from anglers this week.<br />
<strong>Manzano</strong><strong> Lake</strong><strong>:</strong> We had no reports from anglers this week.<br />
<strong>Maxwell</strong><strong> Lake</strong><strong> 13</strong><strong>:</strong> The water level is down and fishing was slow for all species.<br />
<strong>Monastery</strong><strong> Lake</strong><strong>: </strong>Fishing was fair using worms, Power Bait, homemade dough bait, salmon eggs and Pistol Petes for trout.<br />
<strong>Morphy</strong><strong> Lake</strong><strong>:</strong> Trout fishing was good using Pistol Petes, homemade dough bait, cheese, Power Bait, corn, worms and salmon eggs.<br />
<strong>Pecos</strong><strong> River</strong><strong>:</strong> Water flow near the town of Pecos on Monday was 94 cfs. Trout fishing was fair using worms, salmon eggs, copper John Barrs and spinners.<br />
<strong>Red River</strong><strong>:</strong> Water flow near the hatchery Monday was 57 cfs. Trout fishing at the confluence with the Rio Grande and below the hatchery was good using poundmeisters, elk hair caddis, nightcrawlers, Panther Martins and worms.<br />
<strong>Rio Grande</strong><strong>:</strong> Water flow near the Taos Junction Bridge on Monday was 242 cfs.Trout fishing was good using wooly buggers, San Juan worms, poundmeisters, Panther Martins, Fisher Chick spinners, nightcrawlers and salmon eggs. We had no reports on other species.<br />
<strong>Rio Hondo:</strong> Stream flow near Valdez on Monday was 19 cfs. We had no reports from anglers this week.<br />
<strong>Rio</strong><strong> Mora: </strong>Stream flow near Terrero on Monday was 26 cfs. Trout fishing was good using worms, copper John Barrs and salmon eggs.<br />
<strong>Rio Pueblo: </strong>Water flow near Penasco on Monday was 31 cfs. We had no reports from anglers this week.<br />
<strong>Santa Barbara</strong><strong>: </strong>We had no reports from anglers this week.<br />
<strong>Springer</strong><strong> Lake</strong><strong>:</strong> Fishing was fair using crank baits and spoons for small northern pike. We had no reports on other species.<br />
<strong>Storrie</strong><strong> Lake</strong><strong>:</strong>  Fishing was fair using corn, cheese and Power Bait for trout. We had no reports on other species.<br />
<strong>Stubblefield</strong><strong> Lake</strong><strong>: </strong>Water levels are extremely low and not fishable at this time.<br />
<strong>Ute</strong><strong> Lake</strong><strong>:</strong> Fishing was good using minnows, nightcrawlers, crank baits, grubs and jerk baits for walleye. The jerk baits were working best in the evening hours. Fishing was good using crank baits, jerk baits and grubs for white bass. Anglers having the best luck were trolling crank baits.  Fishing for black bass was slow with just a few taken by anglers using chigger craws, tubes, jigs and crank baits. We had no reports on other species. The surface water temp was in the high 50s.</p>

<h1 align="left"><strong>Northwest</strong></h1>
<p><strong>Abiquiu</strong><strong> Lake</strong><strong>:</strong> Fishing was slow for all species with just a couple of small male walleyes caught. They were trying to spawn and oozing milt. Water at the lower end of the lake was clear and the surface temp was in the low to mid 50s while the upper end was murky with floating moss and in the mid to upper 40s. Fishing pressure was light.<br />
<strong>Animas</strong><strong> River</strong><strong>: </strong>Water flow near Aztec on Monday was 570 cfs. We had no reports from anglers this week. <strong></strong><br />
<strong>Albuquerque</strong><strong> Area Drains: </strong>We had no reports from anglers this week.<br />
<strong>Bluewater</strong><strong> Lake</strong><strong>:</strong> Fishing was good using clousers, jerk baits, spoons and crank baits for tiger musky. Most of the fish were in the 20- to 30-inch class again this past week. Fishing for all other species was slow. The surface water temp was in the mid 50s.<br />
<strong>Canjilon</strong><strong> Lakes</strong><strong>: </strong>We had no reports from anglers.   <strong></strong><br />
<strong>Chama</strong><strong> River</strong><strong>:</strong> Monday morning water flows below El Vado and Abiquiu were 751 cfs and 412 cfs respectively. Trout fishing below El Vado was good using Power Bait, worms and salmon eggs for stocked rainbows. Fishing below Abiquiu was slow to fair using worms and spinners<br />
<strong>Cochiti</strong><strong> Lake</strong><strong>:</strong> Fishing was fair using stink bait and nightcrawlers for catfish. Fishing was fair using crank baits, tubes, senkos, jerk baits and spinner baits for smallmouth bass and largemouth bass. Anglers using crank baits also picked up a few white bass. Fishing was slow to fair using spinner baits and jerk baits for northern pike. We had no reports on other species. The surface water temp was in the mid to high 50s.<br />
<strong>El Vado Lake:</strong> We had no reports from anglers this week.<br />
<strong>Fenton</strong><strong> Lake</strong><strong>:</strong> Trout fishing was good using garlic scented Power Bait, salmon eggs, Pistol Petes, worms and Kastmasters. <strong></strong><br />
<strong>Heron</strong><strong> Lake</strong><strong>:</strong>  Fishing was sporadic for lake trout with some good reports late last week, slow fishing over the weekend, then good fishing on Monday. Anglers did well trolling rainbow imitation crank baits and swim baits and jigging white tubes with cut bait.  Fishing from the bank was slow with just a few rainbow trout caught by anglers using Power Bait and worms.<br />
<strong>Jackson</strong><strong> Lake</strong><strong>:</strong> We had no reports from anglers this week.<br />
<strong>Jemez Waters:</strong> Stream flow on the Jemez on Monday was 80 cfs. The higher flow turned the water murky and fishing slowed some. However, there were a few trout caught by anglers using nightcrawlers and weighted wooly buggers. Fishing on the Cebolla below Fenton Lake was fair to good using worms. We had no reports from the Guadalupe, San Antonio or Rio Las Vacas.<br />
<strong>Laguna del Campo: </strong>Opens for the season May 1. <strong></strong><br />
<strong>Lake</strong><strong> Farmington</strong><strong>:</strong> We had no reports from anglers this week.<br />
<strong>Navajo</strong><strong> Lake</strong><strong>:</strong> Fishing was fair to good using jigs, swim baits, crank baits and jerk baits for smallmouth bass and largemouth bass. Fishing was fair using jerk baits and swim baits for northern pike. We had no reports on other species. The surface water temp was in the mid 50s.<br />
<strong>Ramah</strong><strong> Lake</strong><strong>:</strong> We had no reports from anglers this week.<br />
<strong>San Gregorio: </strong>Fishing was very slow.<br />
<strong>San Juan</strong><strong>:</strong> Water flow below Navajo on Monday was 746 cfs and was scheduled to be lowered to 600 cfs later in the day. The water was a bit off color with the increased flow. Fishing in the Quality Water section was good using sparkle worms, red San Juan worms, wooly buggers, red annelids red midge larva, and grey and chocolate foam wing emergers. The emergers were working best in the evening hours. Fishing through the bait waters was good using jerk baits, wooly buggers, copper John Barrs, nightcrawlers, Panther Martins and salmon eggs.<br />
<strong>Santa Cruz</strong><strong> Lake</strong><strong>:</strong> Fishing was fair to good using Power Bait, Panther Martins, Fisher Chick spinners and worms for trout. We had no reports on other species.<br />
<strong>Seven Springs Brood Pond: </strong>This water is open to<strong> </strong>anglers 11 years old or younger. The pond was recently stocked and is a great place to take youngsters to fish. <strong></strong><br />
<strong>Tingley</strong><strong> Beach</strong><strong>:</strong> Trout fishing at the Children’s Pond and the Central Pond slowed quite a bit over the past week but there were a few trout caught by anglers using Pistol Petes, worms, homemade dough baits, garlic cheese and Power Bait. Anglers using worms also caught a few catfish. Fishing at the Catch and Release Pond was slow with just a few fish caught by anglers using scuds and small leech patterns.</p>

<h1>Southwest</h1>
<p>&nbsp;</p>
<p><strong>Bear</strong><strong> Canyon</strong><strong>:</strong> We had no reports from anglers this week.<br />
<strong>Bill</strong><strong> Evans Lake</strong><strong>:</strong> Fishing was slow to fair using crank baits, jerk baits and jigs for largemouth bass. Fishing was slow to fair using nightcrawlers and stink bait for catfish. A few trout were caught by anglers using nightcrawlers and Power Bait. A recent Department survey showed a good number of largemouth bass in the lake along with a large quantity of stocked rainbow trout. Give this one a try and let us know how you do.<br />
<strong>Caballo</strong><strong> Lake</strong><strong>:</strong> The water level was quite low and fishing was slow for all species. The deepest water report this week was 9 to 10 feet. The west-side main boat ramp is still open. The east-side ramp remains closed.<br />
<strong><img alt="butte crappie" src="http://www.wildlife.state.nm.us/recreation/fishing/documents/images/bigcrappie.jpg" width="300" height="478" align="right" />Elephant Butte:</strong> The surface water temp ranged from the high 50s to the low 60s. Fishing for black bass was very good using senkos, sweet beavers, spinner baits, chatterbaits, tubes, grubs and crank baits. Most of the bass caught were in shallow water in prespawn, spawn or post spawn patterns. Fishing was good using cut bait, nightcrawlers and liver for catfish. Fishing was fair to good using grubs, spinners, minnows, swim baits and crank baits for white bass and an occasional crappie. We had no reports on other species. The Monticello and Dam Site boat ramps remain closed due to low water conditions. The Rock Canyon ramp has reopened.<br />
<strong>Escondida</strong><strong> Lake</strong><strong>:</strong> Fishing was slow for all species.<br />
<strong>Gila River</strong><strong>:</strong> Water flow on the Gila as of this past Monday was 65 cfs. We had no reports from anglers this week.<br />
<strong>Glenwood Pond:</strong> Trout fishing was fair to good using Power Bait.<br />
<strong>Lake</strong><strong> Roberts</strong><strong>:</strong> Hot spot for trout: Fishing continued to be very good this past week using worms and Power Bait for trout. The best reports came from anglers using worms. Fishing was good using worms for largemouth bass. The bass have moved into the shallows and should provide some good angling action for the next week or two. Fishing at night was good using worms for catfish.<br />
<strong>Percha Dam: </strong>The water was low and fishing was slow for all species.   <strong></strong><br />
<strong>Quemado</strong><strong> Lake</strong><strong>:</strong> Fishing for trout picked up a bit this past week. Anglers fishing in the evening hours reported good success using garlic Power Bait, worms and salmon eggs. Fishing was slow to fair using assorted fly patterns for tiger musky. We had no reports on other species. The Department just completed a fish survey here and found lots of big rainbows.<br />
<strong>Rio Grande</strong><strong>:</strong> Water flow below Elephant Butte on Monday was .35 cfs. We had no reports from anglers this week.<br />
<strong>Snow</strong><strong> Lake</strong><strong>:</strong> We had no reports from anglers this week.</p>

<p><strong>Bataan</strong><strong> Lake</strong><strong>:</strong> Fishing was slow for all species.<br />
<strong>Black River:</strong> Stream flow at Malaga on Monday was 7 cfs. We had no reports from anglers this week.<br />
<strong>Blue</strong><strong> Hole Park</strong><strong> Pond: </strong>We had no reports from anglers this week.<br />
<strong>Bonito</strong><strong> Lake</strong><strong>:</strong> Closed.<br />
<strong>Bosque Redondo:</strong> Fishing was slow for all species.<br />
<strong>Bottomless</strong><strong> Lakes</strong><strong>:</strong> Fishing was slow.<br />
<strong>Brantley</strong><strong> Lake</strong><strong>:</strong> Anglers are to practice catch-and-release for all fish here as high levels of DDT were found in several fish.<br />
<strong>Carlsbad</strong><strong> Municipal Lake</strong><strong>:</strong> We had no reports from anglers this week.<br />
<strong>El Rito Creek: </strong>Trout fishing was fair using worms and salmon eggs.<br />
<strong>Greene</strong><strong> Acres Lake</strong><strong>: </strong>We had no reports from anglers this week. <strong></strong><br />
<strong>Green</strong><strong> Meadow Lake</strong><strong>:  </strong>Fishing was slow for all species but there was one good bass caught. Check it out in catches of the week.     <strong></strong><br />
<strong>Grindstone Reservoir:</strong> Trout fishing was very good using Power Bait, worms, Kastmasters, Pistol Petes and spinners. Fishing was slow to fair using worms for catfish.<br />
<strong>Jal</strong><strong> Lake</strong><strong>:</strong> We had no reports from anglers this week.<br />
<strong>Lake Van</strong><strong>:</strong> Trout fishing was slow to fair using Pistol Petes under a bubble, small Daredevles and worms. Fishing for catfish was fair using cut bait and liver.<br />
<strong>Oasis</strong><strong> Park Lake</strong><strong>: </strong>Fishing was slow for all species.<br />
<strong>Pecos</strong><strong> River: </strong>Stream flow below Sumner Lake on Monday was 79 cfs. We had no reports from anglers this week.<br />
<strong>Perch</strong><strong> Lake</strong><strong>:</strong> We had no reports from anglers this week.<br />
<strong>Ruidoso</strong><strong> River:</strong> Stream flow near Hollywood on Monday was 5.3 cfs. Trout fishing was slow.<br />
<strong>Santa Rosa</strong><strong> Lake</strong>: The lake has reopened to boating but the launch area is undeveloped and boating is restricted to no wake speed only. Fishing was slow but there were a few walleye and crappie caught by anglers using worms, grubs, minnows and swim baits. Fishing was slow to fair using worms and liver for catfish. We had no reports on other species. The surface water temp was in the mid to high 50s.<br />
<strong>Sumner</strong><strong> Lake</strong><strong>:</strong> Fishing was fair using grubs, crank baits and minnows for walleye. Fishing was slow to fair using crank baits, jerk baits and grubs for white bass. We had no reports on other species. The Violation Canyon boat ramp remains open at this time and will remain open as long as lake levels permit.</p>

<p>U.S. BANK STATE BASKETBALL CHAMPIONSHIPS TO TIP OFF FRIDAY</p>

<p>ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. – The New Mexico Activities Association would like to advise the public of important information pertaining to the 2013 U.S. Bank State Basketball Championships.</p>
<p>The first round of the tournament will be played on Friday, March 8 (Girls) and Saturday, March 9 (Boys) at the home sites of the higher seeded teams. Tickets for the first round games will be $5.00 (Adults, Students, Seniors).<span id="more-2851"></span></p>
<p>The Class A-5A seeding meetings were held on Sunday, March, 3; brackets are posted on the NMAA website.</p>
<p>The Class B seeding meeting will be held on Sunday, March 10, 2013; brackets will be posted by 5:00 PM on Sunday.</p>
<p>Advancing teams in the tournament will come to Albuquerque for the Quarterfinals, Semifinals and Finals, March 12-16. The Pit will play host to the majority of the tournament, with all state championship finals being played on Friday, March 15 and Saturday, March 16. Rio Rancho’s Santa Ana Star Center will host games Tuesday, March 12 – Thursday, March 14 (see NMAA website for specific bracket information). The class A and B quarterfinals and semifinals will be played at Bernalillo High School Tuesday, March 12 &#8211; Thursday, March 14, 2013.</p>
<p>The University of New Mexico will charge $5.00 for parking at The Pit for all vehicles entering with fewer than 4 people. Parking is free at Santa Ana Star Center and at Bernalillo High School.</p>

<p>Ticket prices vary during the tournament depending on the facility.</p>

* Pre-sale tickets for games at The Pit can be purchased by calling 505.925.LOBO or by logging onto www.unmtickets.com. Handicap accessible parking at The Pit is located by the main ticket booth. Handicapped fans are strongly encouraged to purchase tickets in advance.</p>
<p>* Tournament passes will be sold at the NMAA or by calling 505.923.3110 for $125 until Monday, March 11 at 3:00 PM. Tournament passes provide re-entry privileges throughout the tournament, as well as a reserved seat at The Pit.</p>
